I have a dual boot set up with Win 98 on partition C: and Win XP Pro on partition F:.
When I made the image of my F: (XP Pro) partition everything went well. My question is how does True Image make an image of a partition that is in use by the operating system? I just want to make sure what I did is correct because being able to restore the O.S. is the main reason I bought it.

    Thanks

    Hi, Rod Williams

Welcome to Wilders and Acronis Forums.

I do not use Dual Booting any more myself, [using mobile racks]

What partition is Ti install on.

How did you make the Image, in Windows or from the BootDisk CD.

You must have the MBR in the Image to boot or you will have to use FIXMBR to get it to boot.

TI is on the F: (XP Pro) partition and I made the image from XP of the F: partition. That is why I am concerned that everything was imaged since I was imaging the partition XP was running from.

    Thanks again

    Hello Rod,

Have a read of this <Acronis Press Release>. It provides a fair insight into how TI goes about creating a "live" image.

    Regards

    Hello Rod,

Thank you for choosing Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

Acronis exclusive technology allows you to create the image of the running operational system without reboot or stopping any services. You may work as usual while the back up is being created. If you create the image of the operational system we recommend that you create the image of the whole disk rather than of the single partition.

    Thank you.
