You don't need to use the tbosdt script when you are restoring to the same computer. But you know that.

Your batch file in Post #198 has 3 typos.

Right now you're right; I don't need to use the script because my hardware wil not have changes from when I created the images. But that will not always be the case. I can't imagine having the same hardware forever. I anticipate that there will be changes. Data retention is especially important now more than ever because I'm going to start taking a CMOS integrated circuit design course(s) and eventually will be working from home.

Would you mind telling me about the hardware problem and how you fixed it? It could help me one day.

Ha. Well, let's just say it was not as big of a problem as the symptoms indicated/ My video card simply slipped out of its socket. But my "help" worsened things by changing the primary and secondary master/slave relationships. That is what took the longest to diagnose.

My PC was pulling a Linda Blair for a while there.

That happens to my son's computer every few months. The computer won't boot. It just beeps. Interestingly the beeps are Morse Code for D I E

Re-seating the video card fixes the problem.

For some reason this bat is no longer working. It was made for an older version, and as I now use 2.14 there might be some changes that need to be made to it. But I can't see what they should be, if any.

    Any ideas?

Does IFW have the ability to backup (and restore) the MBR?

Yes. The MBR is LBA-0. The First Track (LBA-0 to LBA-62) is included in all images. It can be restored if needed. Just LBA-0 or any of the First Track sectors you desire. The easiest option is to choose "Restore First Track (AUTO)". This restores the MBR and the sectors that are needed. For example, if you have BING with an EMBR.

Here's a new issue, for those that are willing. IFW has put in context menu entries which image the drives based on which ever one is selected. I have editing the registry entry so that in, in part, mirrors the command line I have used in previous bat files. I am failry certain the command line switches are correct, but for whatever reason IFW will not encrypt the image via context menue entry regardless of what options are used. Any ideas?
