*Attention forum members, this is a copy of an email I had sent Acronis which went unanswered. Any suggestions. thanks Kris. *

    Acronis,

First and foremost I have to say that your product advertising is very misleading. Nowhere on the list of minimal requirement is there listed Roxio or Nero software , however it clearly states the product will burn a image to a DVD. Only after getting errors and browsing through the forums and manual did I discover that you have to format the dvd with the above mentioned software first before you can burn to a DVD. That’s B.S

Anyway here is my current problem: I am using True Image 8 Built (800) on a dell laptop with XP sp2, an NEC 4x DVD RW 1.4 Pen M with 512 of RAM, I am unable to burn to a DVD-RW because my dell came with Sonic MYDVD burning suite which offers no UDF formatting abilities.

After reading the forums a second option that Acronis instructs is to create the image on the hard drive and just use (whatever your cd burning software is) i.e.. Sonic MYDVD suite to copy that to the DVD RW. ( by the way this totally defeats the so called DVD burning support your product is suppose to have) What happens is True Image gets to about 1 % and states it will take 3-5 days to complete. I have to manually cancel it. The estimate it gives me prior is about 1 hour for a full image.

I have run it again with antivirus turn off no change. Also booted to safe mood and tried again but got a new error that the RPC server is not available to schedule and the program shuts down. No luck creating an image in safe mood either. So now what. I looked into purchasing Roxio, 7.0 but that’s another $80.00 just so I can use your software. I am sure you can imagine how frustrated I am with this right now. Honestly I have spent at least 5 hours digging through posts on the forums just to get nowhere with a product I just got yesterday.

The reason I purchased your product because it was recommended by both C-Net and PC World, but I have to say this stinks.
Can you please advise me as to what my next step is.
    Kristopher

Yes, you should have Sonic DLA. DLA is one of the packet writing applications recommended by Acronis. Using packet writing software (any sort) may be a mistake as it has a bad reputation for "forgetting" data on the CD unless the CD is finalized. This is rare but it has happened to me and is real. The disk that was working one night was unusable the next morning.

    Well thank you.\
I was able to successfully create an image file using sonic udf formatting. For some reason I can not get through the image check, with out the pc just going to idle and TI says it will take 4-5 hours. I have retried this with antivirus off, no luck. Is anyone else having this issue, o_O
