Overall, Ikarus may have a good detection rate but IMHO, particularly on cost grounds, there are much better AV alternatives.

40 Euros for a standalone AV package, even for 3 licenses, seems to be a very steep price to pay, particularly with the standard of the free AVs presently available!

I agree £33 pounds for a year/3 users is a lot.I paid £22 for 3 years and 3 users for NIS 2012 ,and that includes a firewall too (i think ikarus is just an av?).There doesnt seem to be any offers or discounts for this av like the more popular ones either.

Unfortunately there is no forum for support, but you have the Russian forum section for ikarus http://forum.ru-board.com/topic.cgi?forum=5&topic=28707&start=0 admittedly rather sparse and limited, but still has something.I know that some people from Ikarus read this forum.
My experience with support is very good, for a very short time get an answer.

Trying it, and everything seems quite light indeed. Everything except one thing. Which is dreadful. Something confirmed here:

    http://www.raymond.cc/antivirus/fileio.html

An older engine is used there, and I think there is some improvement, but certainly slower in that regard than most others I have tried.

King Grub, I am pretty sure that Virus Utilities uses the Ikarus T3.dll engine and T3sigs.vdb data.

Thank you for your honest view.
We are working on international prices right now.
But there is also good news in high prices ;-).
You will get support directly from the customer via phone, skype or email and there is no callcenter or a presales-Agent from a distributor.
We do not distinguish between whatever licence a customer uses if 1lic private use or company everyone gets direct support.

    br,
    Ziggy, IKARUS HQ vienna

Hi Ziggy, good to see someone from Ikarus at Wilders :thumb: Welcome.

Hopefully working them down. Ikarus is a good product but IMHO, too expensive for a standalone AV, even with the support quoted.

Any news on some sort of behaviour blocker/HIPS/web scanner in the pipe-line for Ikarus; and any thoughts on more options for the Guard/Scanner etc becoming available e.g. controlling which files the Guard scans?

    Thanks.
for private use you can use the licence for 3 PC´s - Laptops - i will let you know as soon as we do have new prices - btw. how much would you pay?
what do you think is a fair price - send me a pm ;-)

Web scanner - if you mean HTML and URL filtering - we do have a security proxy for scanning HTTP and locking URL´s by default due to category lists or customized sets.
