Been trying this one now and I am extremely impressed. It may be the lightest product I have used.. Yeah I know, it wasnt at one time but it is now. Even installed it on a netbook. Very simple interface, set it and go. I do hate the required manual scan at setup or the tray icon is miising 1/4 of its cross till you do.

So far, very, very good detection with no FPs.

One misperception I think we have had, is on User license and price. I spoke to them today and in their store it shows a price for 1 User. That 1 user license can be used on up to 3 computers in your home. So for about $54.00 I get a 3 computer license, which isnt bad for something that has excellent detection and is very light.

Hmmm, another one of them why do we have a thread started like this again.:D

The issue with Ikarus has always been FPs. They just scored 50/50 on a recent MRG test. Hopefully they've got a handle on the FPs.

In the short time I have been using it, I have gotten more FPs from 2 other products in the last week, and none from this one. Of course I wont name them. This is a really cool product that is very simple to use. The detection is whats blowing me away. 50/50 lol. I got that beat already.:thumb:

Just for the record, you can't beat 50/50. That's 100%.

told ya. They update like every 20 minutes. I am thinking that is because if they have a sig, they detect. In my testing this afternoon, their zero day protection without a sig, well, makes me worry.

As you are aware, Emsisoft has the detection of Ikarus plus its own engine.
I remember you saying you didn't care for Emsisoft.

You could pair Ikarus with Zemana for extra zero day protection.
However, $40 is too much for Ikarus. $30 seems a better price.

if i was to change AV, ikarus would be my first choice among the less known competitors and probably beats most of the major players too.

a fast look at the shadow server confirms that.

in detection rates it is second to none. not sure about removal or heuristics though.

ikarus can buy in Croatia or Serbia at significantly lower prices.ikarus has its official representative offices in these countries. You also have a representative office ikarus in Russia.
In Serbia the price 1y license 15 € for 3 pc.
for a short time is expected major improvements.see photo>these already added....

Good Morning ! The pricing of the product is U.S. $53.85yr 1 p.c....Cdn $53.95.1 p.c. Even though I'm intrigued by the product...their custmr service is an unknown factor...and they have to be more attractively priced for the North American market. But they're probably very popular in the Euro Zone. I am intrigued by the simplicity of the product and it's detection rates. Sincerely...Securon

License key can be used on 3 mach.s simultaneously?
    Per their EULA:
...use of the software...on multiple PCs is not permitted unless additional multiclient or network licenses equal to the number of PCs on which the software is employed have been purchased.

Bob, I emailed them this week and sales specifically stated that for home use 3 will work. More then that you have to start looking at a business license. But they assured it me would.

I am close to buying it anyway, and I know the trial license they sent worked also on 3 computers

Good Morning ! I would want written confirmation as too exactly how their licensing works...because it's sketchy in it's existing wording. I'm also reluctant due primarily to language interpretation as to how effective their custmr svc is in responding to the N.American market, since as of the moment they have no N.American Sales representation...at least none I'm aware of ! I agree with you Bob in that it's one license per 1 p.c. and additional licenses are a pay commitment. Sincerely...Securon

They don't seem to have a support forum.

That's prudent. EULAs are inherently nebulous. I'm sure you can email support as trjam did for confirmation.
(My experience with license keys is receipt of separate key for each machine)
PS: per Serbian price list: only for Home Users (1 license/3 PCs or Notebook)
    http://www.antivirusikarus.rs/download/cenovnik_2011_Serbia.pdf
If true $54 / 3 PCs is much more reasonable (comparable to ESET)

Good Morning ! Trjam, how could you possibly imply that I would question your impeccable reputation here at Wilders ? Based on the Adventures I've had in the past couple of years with European providers...you'll have to cut me some slack...regarding my cautious outlook...it's a Canadian thing Eh! LOL...Sincerely...Securon
