Well, it was fun while it lasted, but I had to ditch it and go back to IE6 because my banking website dosn't support IE7...I called the bank and spoke with the techs and they said the bank site won't support IE7 until it's out of beta.....bummer, I guess I'll wait till then.

Washington Mutual Bank is the one who's web site would not work with IE7. I called their tech people, and they said their site will not work with IE7 until it's off beta status.

What stinks is no win2k support, not that it matters to me because I use Opera anyway, I just like to try new stuff.

I called my bank last night and was told that they will not support IE7 until it comes out of Beta.
I installed it today and the bank operates as normal.

Yes IE7 beta2 is definitely buggy... How unfortunate it is (for most of us) that bloated, slow and vulnerable IE is and will continue to be a browsing necessity, in one way or another, forever! :ouch:

IE7 Beta 2 Vulnerability Discovered in just 15 minutes!

On the day of its release security researcher Tom Ferris at Security Protocols needed just 15 minutes to find the first vulnerability in IE7 Beta 2 and write an exploit for it. This is believed to be a new record.

You can read the article at:
    http://www.nist.org/news.php?extend.75

One can only imagine the meetings at Microsoft when upper level management asked the programmers exactly what they spent the Millions of Dollars they were given to improve security in Internet Explorer 7. And why dozens of programmers and testers didn't find a bug that this one person found in just 15 minutes. At most companies heads would roll!

now thats a funny event! tbh i never liked IE and probably never will (especially with the new IE7 coming out, since its basically a less secure, worse version of FF). but that sure is a good read :p just 15 minutes and microsoft got slapped in the face.

This takes MS bashing to a whole new level

A bug in a pre-release beta2 software package is critical? Now come on, lets be a little bit more mature, shall we?

It's better to have all the bugs now, that on the final version...

Re: IE7 Beta 2 Vulnerability Discovered in just 15 minutes!

    Well, three questions...

    1. So you think that Tom Ferris had not had time or the opportunity to prepare his 'exploit' with the preceding IE7 beta release (at which time he would have been under an NDA to prevent him from reporting such things), and that he only started working on it 15 minutes prior to discovering the vulnerability?

    2. Do you believe that Tom Ferris has acted reponsibly in exposing all those now playing with the current beta to an exploit, rather than work with the manufacturers (in this case Microsoft) to have the issue resolved before it can do damage or cause unnecessary inconvenience?

    3. Do you really believe that gloating over a flaw in a beta product shows you to be a sensible person exhibiting clarity of thought?
