Do they really mean, it's the icons themselves that are somehow unsafe, or it's just the posters using them, supplying the Rogue AV links ? If they are unsafe, in what way, are they JS exploits etc ?

The Sunbelt blog does actually say

I don't believe there is anything malicious about the icons themselves. They are just images. They suggested disabling the images because they are NSFW. The danger would be if you clicked on the links which can redirect you to sites hosting malicious code.

Hi Nick That's what i thought, it's the links. Just with it saying
it appeared to be suggesting that the ICONS might have something to do with it. If it had been, a brand new ball game would have just opened :D

    Thanks

Generally NSFW are images of an adult nature, that would violate most companies zero tolerance policy of adult images on a work computer. They won't harm your computer, they will get you fired.
