I know that I have a problem that is not as urgent as most folk have here, but it is important to me. Maybe some other folk have this problem too. I have too many security programs. Most are not real time so cpu use and RAM use is not the problem. May be that long term deterioration of the computer environment occurs. I just want the number necessary for reasonable security and no more. I don't have too many real time one, but too many total. My core programs are justified because the niches that they occupy and the attack vectors that they defend are clear. The core programs are

    Prevx,
    Online Armor,
    Sandboxie,
    SpywareBlaster,
    Trojan Remover, and
    Wormguard.

These programs I know well, three I've use for a long time. But you may question these too, but the ones that I am concerned about are

    SUPERAntiSpyware,
    Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware ,
    GMER,
    IceSword,
    RootkitRevealer,
    CatchMe,
    Rootkit Unhooker,
    Stinger, and SpyDLLRemover.

Believe me, this is a much shorter list than some years ago.

The only thing I can see that you don't need anymore is WormGuard as it has not been updated in years and Prevx and OA would stop any worms from running! But you can have as many On-Demand scanners as you like and Trojan Remover I still use and it only scans on Boot Up or On-Demand so I wouldn't call that a realtime scanner!

Then why not ditch them o_O

Take a baseline image > 'Light' Virtualise your system > Save data to non-system drive > Sandbox browser for belt-and-braces surfing
