I need help with my registry

    I have a laptop with a broken cd rom drive. Everytime I logon it logs me right back off. I found a program that will supposively change the registry but it doesn't work. I need a program that I can put on a boot disk to edit the registry. The system is Windows XP with an NTFS drive. The Userinit key is registered to go to C:\WIndows\System32\Userinit..exe Please help me.
