I un-installed NOD 2.5 today and re-installed NOD 2.7. It installed without a hitch but it refuse to get past < engine0.nup >. It loads up to about 80% and then it re-starts the download from a different server, and so on and so on. I've removed the app and re-installed it the second time and I get the same result. My defs are not updating and the update will not abort.

    HELP!!!!

    Gary

I recommend uninstalling again - removing the C:\Program Files\Eset folder, and then re-installing. I'd reboot after the uninstall, and again after the install - then setup extra settings and click update now:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=37509

    So to recap...

    Uninstall NOD32
    Reboot
    Remove C:\Program Files\Eset folder
    Reinstall NOD32
    Reboot
Setup as per extra settings thread

    hth

    Thanks Greg.

I tried to do that again and that ended in the same result. I followed your instructions verbatim.

The update continously loops at about 82% when downloading the very first file < engine0.nup >
    I get no error messages.
Could there be a problem with the actual file being downloaded?

Once it stops at 82%, it restarts automatically from another different server...

select a server and setup that one server - I would try one of the later ones - u28 or u29 - click update now.

Make sure you change it back to <Choose Automatically> afterwards though.

I have seen similar thing once long time ago but it has happened with one of the old old servers . It is quite uncommon for the new servers if it is because of the servers , of course .

If Greg's great suggestion doesn't help , contact ESET's Tech Support , I believe they can help you resolve your issue
ESET USA support (online form) http://www.eset.com/support/contact.php
ESET Slovakia HQ , mail to support@eset.com

Don't forget to add a link to this thread . Good luck :thumb:

OK, Now this is what I'm getting.
I set the servers to U27, U28, U29, and tried each one respectively and when it hooked up to update it automatically went to U7!

    Hi firehawk, welcome to Wilders.

Please go to a command prompt by doing the following:

    • Click on Start
    • Click on All Programs
    • Click on Accessories
    • Click on Command Prompt.
    • Type "C:\Program Files\ESET\Install\setup.exe" /test (with the quotes)
    • Press enter on your keyboard.
    • This will write a log to C:\Program Files\ESET\Install\nsetup.log
    • Copy the contents of this log file here so we can look for errors.

Check the last file scanned when the scanner stalls (maybe it just loops forever on a particular file). The last log entry should commence with "ENTER" which means NOD32 created a handle for that file, but has not closed it yet.

    Cheers :D

Ok, Mine says <u7.eset.com> and seems to be locked onto that now.

And to answer your second question I downloaded the installer directly from the site you have a link to. For windows XP 32

I have also been informed to check the amount of Disk space that you have available.

Where did you get an installer from ? ESET's official web site ?!
ESET have removed old servers from list of update servers and as far as I know it is impossible for them to direct you to u7.eset.com

The latest installer comes bundled with all the servers (all new) in the screenshot , excluding 82.165... 82.165 comes after the first update . But there is no u7. You probably got an old installer + all the things Blackspear pointed you about the xml file of NOD32

Is it asking you for your username and password when it stops downloading? I had this happen before when my license expired. Check your license info to be sure u'r license is still valid.

    WOW!
    What a nightmare!
I finally got a response from ESET and they're claiming my subscription had EXPIRED. I have a receipt in my hand saying it expires june 6,2007!!!

I e-mailed them back saying so and I haven't heard anything so far. I tried to call the 619 number and got the automated greeting and got no answer from any of the 4 options including "O"...

    I'm soooooooo frustrated now....
