Well I don't need it for me but I need one that I can download that has a free trial. I need to fix my brother in laws computer. He can't get his Icons Transparent. I tried everthing that I copuld think of. I think it's a registry problem.

One heck of a lot of us think the best one around is JV-16 Power Tools -- it used to be freeware until a few months ago, then the developer sold it to Macecraft and it's now shareware with a free trial period.

One of the things I liked best about it is that it gives a good explanation of what it objects to for anything it finds in the registry that it doesn't like, unlike others which usually give you just a plain listing. "File doesn't exist", for instance, or "obsolete file extension".

Ideally you'd use it in combination with something like Ad-Aware, since like most reg cleaners it doesn't (or at least didn't when I used it) have any definitions for "unclean" things.

For registry a cleaner you might also want to look at EasyCleaner.

I really do love my easycleaner v2 - it's much more than a registry cleaner!
