this sucks. its HUGE ... nearly 400+mb after install even if i only pick 2 or 3 options from all of them. i have a copy of roxio and ashampoo 7 also to use.. my question before installing or uninstalling anything is which will let you do cd sang titles and album titles i dont think ashampoo can do this can it?? what about roxio i got it free with a system i bought and never used it it is the most current version??

also i have issue using nero lite it will not let me do a disc at once burn so i cant use a image file or anything like that to burn to disc which sucks not sure why but its greyed out for me..

i also want a few extras but not anything like nero 8 omg its crazy..

    thanks in advance

It seems InfraRecorder can do that:

Havent personally tested that feature though.

i remember when i install nero7 (file size: 170MB) with ALL the feature, it come up with 360MB.

how much HDD capacity you got...400MB nowdays is nothing.

Nero is a pretty good software, IMO.

lol i have 2 500gb and 2 120gb drives in the desktop pc.. so its fine on my main system.. its the laptops i need something for they only have 160gb in one of them and 200gb in the other..

i am using nero 8 lite in the toshiba laptop and the reason i need to change for that system is for some reason mero 8 lite will not let me burn as disc at once i can only do track at onceo_O why is this? i would simply use nero lite if i could get disc at once to work?? thanks

yes but using something like nero or roxio is much easier for my wife and daughter who know very little about these kinds of things, with nero i can show them very easy to simply move the file into the left side and go to the burn icon. all they have to do initially is pick what they want in smartstart.. see what i mean??

you got 160gb hdd...400mb file size is nothing.

what do you mean by "will not let me burn as disc at once i can only do track at once" ?

when you go to burn a image file or iso you need to do it disc at once. it only gives me the option of track at once...

Second that, Burnaware has a lovely GUI,its almost created for the simple minded, but under the hood its very mature and doing all the things right what you can expect from an advanced burner. :thumb:

Because of its bloat, I went from Nero to Ashampoo Burning Studio. It does everything you need (and btw, my entire family loves using it)! ;)

    Hello,
So browsers should also be 300-400MB in size. The real skill is to make good things small. It really doesn't matter how much space someone has. Because that program can be installed by someone with 40GB as well as 400GB hard disk and it makes a difference.

I too HATE all the bloat! ;) My burners of choice...

    For simple: (already mentioned) BurnAware
It's not a burner I use but for family and friends that need/want simple, it's tough to beat.

For nicest GUI: (already mentioned) Ashampoo Burning Suite 7
It does most of what I want but here and there, I have needed alternatives.

IMO, the best substitute for Ashampoo: CDBurnerXP http://cdburnerxp.se/
This requires .NET Framework 2 or higher, so that might be a deal killer (there is a workaround of sorts but I've never tried it.) It is very stable and offers some things Ashampoo doesn't (such as Mode2/XA burning.) It isn't as flashy as Ashampoo, but this is the one I use most of the time.

For portable use: (already mentioned) InfraRecorder
It is still a work in progress but is coming along nicely. And, as I alluded, it will run from a USB flash drive.

As for disk and song titles, many freeware rippers can download info from online databases and automatically assign them. I didn't have to type a single keystroke for the last MP3's I made (from some of my old CDs.)

Nero was good when it was just "Nero" and not "Nero Photocrap", "Nero Audio Recorder", "Nero bla bla bla bla" ...

That is why some one makes Nero Micro (approx 20 MB).
