Okay not me, my brother who is on the sameLAN.

He claims to have no idea how it got there and blames it on my sis who used it recently . He doesn't use any antiviruses, despite his offical title at work as a "IT security expert" (I kid you not, abt the title i mean).

Took him about 5 minutes to clean it up.

Ho Hum. he still doesn't believe in antiviruses.

A "it security expert" who doesnt beleive in antiviruses.
    Says it all , really.
To me its a proven fact that a AV is needed when going online.

Well to be fair, since he (and me i guess ) started messing with computers when he was in his early teens, I can recall only one instance (other than this time) where his computer was infected .

And it took him all of 5 minutes to clean this swen thingie.

He suspects that my sis who was visiting recently and used his computer, infected his computer. Pausible i guess, since swen isn't particularly difficult to detect really we are not talking about some trojan beat after all, just some silly worm.

An AV is a safety net, even the most talented tight-rope walker might fall down one day. (as long as the AV is not in any way affecting things negatively, such as a physical safety net does, besides not getting as much attention since you won't have an opportunity to fall down and perish (entertainment is great, isn't it?))

Sounds like the head of "IT" where i work. He doesn't use any antivirus software on his own computer either.

Think they know something we don't? ;)

I would think it would be easier to detect and stop an infection than to have to try to clean up after one.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I remember reading somewhere that the worst ppl 4 computer security are the ppl in the computer security industry. Go figure, u would think they were the best since they spend all day trying to stop and fix these things.

Then he would just have to remove it of course. I suppose that's how you get experience in handling such things :)
