I am trying to install this software on a newly installed machine and I am receiving this error: "A necessary file could not be located. Setup cannot continue". I have contacted Webroot but they are still unable to solve this problem. Does it happens to anyone else? Could someone help me, please?
    Thanks

Did you try running setup.exe as administrator?

    Thanks Macstorm for your answers.
Of course was the first thing I have checked after the problem came out. I tried all. Nothing works. Even the webroot support centre is helpless.
Is it possible that I am the only one to have this problem?

YW. Did you follow those instructions all the way? At this point, I can only suggest you to try to clean your registry (using jv16PowerTools for example) before to try again. Or just wait for another suggestion. Good luck!

Someone suggested before that Microsoft Silverlight is required to install Webroot software. Do you have Silverlight installed?

    Hello bandi
Have you tried to run a Windows Update just to see if there are any files/updates which Weebroot might be missing.
    Best Regards :)

@bandi: Have you made any changes in freshly installed Windows like EMET, SEHOP, SRP, GPO, etc.

did you try running their removal tool first, then re-downloading and installing again? i had a client who borked an install of webroot and i just had to run the removal utility they offer on their site, reboot, then install and all was well with the world.

if you haven't tried it: *create a restore point* - http://download.webroot.com/WRUpgradeTool.exe <- run this (full removal utility), also... http://download.webroot.com/CleanWDF.exe <-...run this (removes the firewall drivers, etc)

refer to this as well: link link link (webroot support)

What happens if you temporarily disable UAC and reboot.
