I had made a thread over at https://trac.torproject.org a while back about possible crashes under Firefox and they've been able to zero in on what's probably causing it. https://github.com/EFForg/https-everywhere/issues/262

So if anyone else has been having a lot of Firefox crashes the last few months and you use HTTPS Everywhere, try out 3.5.3! Likewise, if anyone wants to test this out, be sure all SSL Observatory options are checked (such as Submit and Check).

So far so good. No more crashes with Observatory enabled. Had 3+ crashes a day with the previous version.
