Do I need to uninstall, reboot, then reinstall the newer version? Or do I just install the newer version on top of the old one?

Install over the previous one can happen.

Just overwrote EAV 3.0.667 with .684 and now Real Time File Protection has to be started manually every time I reboot my XP SP3 Dual Core based system. Deleting EAV and reinstalling did not solve problem.

I was advised by Blackspear to uninstall 2.7 before installing version 3.0. Maybe that was to be on the safe side, and perhaps a simple "install over" for all versions 3.0 from now on will work (until version 4 is released)....but this is how Blackspear advised me to go from 2.7 to 3.0.
