The "Remove disk or other media" error message is in the boot sector code. Apparently, it's having a problem reading the drive, though exactly what causes that specific error, I don't know.

I assume that the Acronis flashdrive boots properly on the computer?

Have you tried using FAT32 for the BartPE flashdrive? I think PEtoUSB defaults to FAT16. You'd have to create the flashdrive, copy the files off, reformat (or convert with DD, for example) to FAT32 and copy the files back. Edit: You may need to update the boot sector if you reformat.

Another option would be to install Grub4DOS as the boot manager on the flashdrive and let it directly boot BartPE. I use this on my flashdrive. It completely bypasses the boot sector. The files can be downloaded from my VistaPE Flashdrive page. If you've created a VistaPE flashdrive, BartPE can be added to it.

Feel free to email me if you want.

PEtoUSB defaults to FAT16 and you only have option to enable LBA. This HP tool can format in FAT16 LBA, FAT32 or NTFS:
