I backed up some system with True Image Home V11. When I backed up, I decided to keep the backup image in a single large file (~6 GB). Now, I want to put the backups on DVD. But, ISO file formats prevent files above 2 GB in size. (I don't want to use UDF format on the DVD...)

Is there a way to split an image (.TIB) file *after* having backed up the system? If so, I could split the file, put it on a single DVD DL and be able to restore from the DVD alone...

    TIA,

    Pierre

There are programs that can split files into pieces, however you wouldn't be able to use the splits with TI unless you first recombined them back into the original one file.

Why don't you want to use UDF on a DVD? Assuming your computer will read the TI image file on the DVD correctly, you can just boot from your TI CD (or flashdrive) and restore from the DVD.

The only other option you have is to restore the image and reimage it with the split size you want or use TI to create a bootable DVD with the image on it (it will be UDF, though).

    Mudcrab,

I have tried to burn a UDF DVD on two separate systems with Nero and on both cases created a couple of coasters. Either my ThinkPad T60p or HP system, I can't seem to reliably burn a UDF/DVD to contain the single 6 GB .TIB file. If I could, then that would be great.

If you have a recommendation to create a format which would contain the single 6 GB file, that would be great. Unfortunately, I cannot re-image the system and re-create a split .TIB file.

If anyone from Acronis is listening, I would suggest adding a feature to open an existing .TIB file and save it in split files...

    Try The Filesplitter 1.31 from:
    http://www.dekabyte.com/filesplitter/

I have tried it and it worked. However, before you throw any old archives away make sure you test recombining the split files by validating with TI.

pierregoyette, the suggested feature has bee submitted to our Development team.
Probably this feature will be implemented in the next versions of Acronis True Image Home.

We are always at your service should you have any further questions.

    Thank you.

    Best Regards,

This would be especially useful when using backup locations, because the option to split image files is not available in that case.
