    Hello

Today I uninstalled MyDefrag and re-enabled the Win7 disk defrag service.

However, when I tried to defrag my system drive I got the dialogue box below:

    Capture.PNG

Hitting 'Remove Settings' had no effect at all, even after a reboot.

I then tried to re-enable the defrag schedule in 'Task Sceduler but received this dialogue box:

    Capture2.PNG

    with this one behind it:

    Capture3.PNG

This is not the end of the world as I'm happy to continue with MyDefrag (which ran fine on re-install) and, even if I wasn't, I have a baseline image to roll back to.

I'm just very interested in knowing whether:

1.there is a clever way to restore 'ownership' of disk defragmentation to Windows in a situation like this
2.anyone else has seen this problem after trying to revert to the Windows defrag service after uninstalling any of the other third party applications.

I've already posted over on the MD forum.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

    (Win7 64, chkdsk /r = volume clean, sfc = integrity good)

Cudni: I couldn't get as far as the Win Defrag GUI - that was part of the problem

GlobalForce: Just been through the procedure again and that fsutil command did the trick :thumb:

Thank you both very much for your help.

Great. Re-posted for the folks @ home - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939615. In the event MS changes their link:

"You cannot change the settings for a file backup operation or use Windows Task Scheduler to change the defrag schedule in Windows Vista"
