    W7 home premium 64bit.

    I have previously used ESS 4.2. I uninstalled it via windows uninstaller. I cant get rid of the outlook plugin that is located in the exchange plugins.

    I have not been using exchange, ever! I tried the suggestions found here

    http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN767

    but that did not help me. Everytime I open outlook I get the message that there is something wrong with the eset plugin and I should uninstall it.

    When I delete the .dat file it just shows up again next time I open outlook.

    How can I get rid of this plugin?

    Did you check in task manager that Outlook wasn't running before you deleted the dat file? Does installing / uninstalling ESS make a difference? Have you tried searching for extend.dat and deleting all instances for each of the users?

    Hi Marcos!

    Yes I checked that outlook was proper closed before deleting .dat file. I am a single user with single account in my outlook. I have been in the registry and deleted everything with eset as name, and I did search inside hidden&system protected files.

    I tried installing ESS again and then uninstalling it, but there is no difference. I still get the same error.

    When I go to trustcenter in outlook and choose add-ins, and then open exchange Client Extensions, I find eset outlook plugin. I can uncheck it, but it will activate itself within 5-10 openings of outlook

    Try the following:
    - download and run Process monitor (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx)
    - enter the following filters:
    "Process Name" "is" "outlook.exe" "Include" - press "Add"
    "Path" "ends with" "extend.dat" "Include" - press "Add" followed by "OK"

    In the menu, select:
    "Filter" -> "Drop Filtered Events"
    "Filter" -> "Enable Advanced Output"

    - run MS Outlook
    - close MS Outlook
    - determine the path to extend.dat from the log and delete the file from the disk

    Hi,
    Have the same problem. Did the action as described by Marcos. I only have one place on my computer where the extend.dat is saved.
    But even if I delete the file, I always get the same error message the next time I'm starting Outlook 2007. o_O

    I manage to get rid of it!

    I had to restart my pc and start it up in safemode without network. Then I manually deleted the.dat file and I did run the removal tool after I deleted the file. http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page...nt&id=SOLN2289

    Then, voila, everything was ok! JIPPI! I saved my day :)
