How to make unprivileged programs listen on privileged ports.

Now why would anyone want to do this? As the author says:
This article shows you how to do that!

But you still need root or sudo for iptables :)

I agree, but after you have made the permanent changes to iptables, what is the need to remain root or sudo after that?

But if you can do it once, then you can do it any number of times for any program, and bind to any which port. It's not like it saves anything. You would have to repeat and maintain firewall rules for each program, so why not use the privileged ports in the first place, or just use unprivileged ones.
