    I think the default ruleset does not prevent a software from adding shell extensions (I mean the menu that pops up when you right click in Windows Explorer). This is not a security issue, but what rule can I write to make sure Regdefend would ask me before a software adds shell extensions?

    You would need to create a rule to protect the below key.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Shell extensions\Approved

    Since Tony's ruleset contains a rule in the Special Registry Items sections plus many more, I would suggest you consider installing that ruleset.

    Found here---> Tony's ruleset
