    Thank you - nice reminder and summary of many of the annoying schemes I have occasionally been duped by.

    Shame on me for not having always paid attention during these installation procedures and just blindly clicking through.

    I also agree with your comment that we shouldn't automatically reject software if it offers some additional add-ons. What I think is junk might be attractive to someone else - you just have to read carefully.

    The easiest way to do it for n00bies, after you formated your computer

    Visit http://ninite.com/

    then tick the apps you want

    it will create a customized installer for your MINUS all the toolbars/bloatware :)
