I rely heavily on history lists, so any cleaning of them is not for me, but each to their own. I don't use bookmarks. Or to be more to the point I've got what I'm guessing is many hundreds of bookmarks, and they are not organized. So I just ignore my bookmarks and type in the url. Having my browser being able to auto complete the url is very useful to me. True, but this doesn't worry me at all.
I honestly don't see the point (the point of cleaning usage data, I do shower every day...) Nothing personal, but it all depends how you use your computer. I can't live without usage data.
Exactly! Most of us that use CCleaner don't need that data and removing it feels like "taking a shower" as arsenaloyal said.
I use it very rarely, about once a month in average. Because I heavily use time machines and eventually return to the base image.
I use this almost everyday just for maintenance cleaning even though I have Sandboxie...just to make sure "none" are left for the spy.
Hello I tried CCleaner, but since the entries are not very informative, it requires too much research for a simpleton like me to decide which ones to clean without doing any damage to the registry. I've never heard of time machines, nor was able to find them on google. Can you please give an example of such tool? Thanks, amba
Hi! by the time machines I mentioned I meant progs with snapshot technology: Rollback Rx , Comodo Time Machine and SysRestore .
The registry cleaner only finds invalid entries as long you unchecked the search for obsolete software, making it safe to use.
Thank you Solarlynx. Thank you for this information, but I'm kind of a control freak when it comes to my comp. so I like doing stuff only when I fully understand... amba
Hourly seems a bit extreme.Although it begs another question which is can excessive cleaning actually be harmful to the HDD etc.?
I had used CCleaner in the past and decided to download it yesterday. Wonder how good the uninstall feature is and if it's better than Windows uninstaller.
Every day before turning off the PC. If uninstalling a software program then I will analyze the registry part of it and if it finds something (rarely in Win 7) then I make a backup of it prior to deleting. CCleaner is one of my favorites! I also use CCEnhancer with it.
I have it set up to automatically fire when I close a sandboxed session to securely delete the data... so several times a day, unless I'm away from my computer.
