Its just a con.Unless you name a price very near to the price offered ,it gets rejected and you just get bombarded with ashampoo emails for other products.I fell for that when i named a fair price for their office suite many moons ago

After testing them with 2 cheaply price offerings, I would say that you are probably right. Even if they have some decent softwares available at fairly prices if taking on their rebates. I just don't digest the sour gimmicky feel let by their spamming twist!

At most, I could continue to use some of their numerous free versions that I already had stashed on a back cd, when/if need be. And, anyways and as already stated by some posters here, we have a great choice among other softwares (and many real freewares) to choose from, as might be better alternatives to even their most decent ones, IMO...

And I have already closed the throwaway addy given to them!

If you want cheap A shampoo products-the best idea is to wait for their genuine sales, not the auctions-where the discounts never equal the sale prices.

For example once picked up their Office product for $10.

That is true, Coo. I got Burning Studio 8 for 19.95USD which regularly sells for 49.95. I do not get that many emails from them but if you wait for a while a deal like this shows up.

Another little scam which happens all the time if you dont pay in $US-is being offered a product for example at $US9.99-then the order page lists it at $17.87-instead of $11.67 after conversion from $US.

Their marketing Dept is too clever for their own good:thumbd:

I'll bid a reasonable range from 89 cents up to 15 smackers, and thats my final offer.

Thats not necessarily always the case. Their photo commander 6 usually sells for $49.99, recently i offered them $9.99 and they accepted it.

Glad you got something out of them.Theres obviously a minimum they will accept so all this "pick a price" for each individual,is just marketing hype.I wish they'd just say "today you can have it for "x amount" .

Yeh it is just marketing hype but they do occasionally send out emails saying you can have this product for x amount.

If you make them an offer of $19.95 for the Burning Studio 8 will they take it?

Actually before 8 was released I got an email from them saying I could preorder 8 for 19.95. I believe I got 7 in the same manner.

I found 8 much the same as 7 so not much of a bargain for me.

Yes, or if you do not want them to clogg your email spam box, you could take an online read of their recent offerings there.

    I finally went for their last offer (Photo Commander 6 + Photo Optimizer 2 + WinOptimizer 4 = $9.99).
