I would never expect to see a free AV compare to a paid one, especially the heavy hitters like KAV and NOD32.

AntiVir has a better detection rate than several of the paid for AVs, but it does not do as well as the really big hitters - if it did then nobody would bother paying for an AV at all!

Having said that, I have seen tests in which it has performed comparable to Nod. It's one point of relative weakness is with trojans; but if you combined it with an AT you would have good all round protection.

    Temp,

BestBuy apparently uses several AVs to do their repairs. From personal experience with them here in Texas, they also use F-PROT for DOS, as well as Norton.

    FWIW... ;)

I'll be sure that AntiVir combined with Ewido is very close to McAfee VSE 8.0i. Unfortunately I have not got my sample collection that AntiVir missed, because it was not able to move infected archives like DrWeb, so that I could check the combo result.

Quite cheap realtime protection, total cost 27.96 $.

    Best regards,

AntiVir is a very good AV,i only wish they would add autoupdater with incrimental updates. It would took load off their servers and make users happier.
