HOUSTON -- A Houston City Hall source told 11 News that the city’s municipal court system will be closed later Friday afternoon. It will remain closed all weekend and Monday, after a widespread computer virus infected city computers and forced them to shut down.

The source said the courtroom closure will begin with Friday’s 4 p.m. docket.

Houston’s director of information technology, Richard Lewis, told 11 News the virus is believed to be the “Conficker” virus, and it has infected nearly every computer at the Municipal Court and Parking Management Department, as well as isolated systems across the city.

Will the use of linux in certain departments makes a difference,
just like the unix client in the bank, highly specialized versions? :doubt:

It would probably be better if the Owner/operator of the existing systems would go over their security policies once they find out how the system was breached.

It is not easy nor cheap to change an entire system once it is in place.
