I received an email from "Windows Live Hotmail" that stated that due to congestion Windows Hotmail is going to close unused accounts. In order to verify my account I am to provide info that includes name, password, alternative email accounts, etc.

This is obviously a scam to obtain email information, and I am not going to respond. Anyone else get such a message?

    Regards,
    Jerry

I haven't checked my hotmail account since yesterday, but sometime ago I reported the same sort of message a relative got regarding Gmail. The exact same crap saying Google was going to close unused accounts.

It's phishing and nothing else! :)

You should report it to Microsoft via the in-built function in Hotmail.
