When launching or closing IE my homepage gets reset to a res:// page. I ran Spybot S&D and fixed what it found. Below is my Hijack log. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Mark K,

    Click Start > Run > Services.msc > OK
In the services window find Network Security Service.
Rightclick and stop it. Put the Startup type to disabled under Properties > General tab

Then open TaskManager and stop these two processes:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3uc32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3el.exe

Before you start, please unzip hijackthis to a separate folder. The program will make backups in the folder in the folder it's in.
These will now end up on your desktop.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

Unfortunately my computer still appears infected and Nortons indicated a Trojan Horse Virus now as well. Thanks for the help the first time and I'm hoping you can try again as this thing seems persistant! Here is my current Hijack This log.

Thanks for your quick response. The problem was gone for the first try of IE and was back the second time I used it. I made a log before I used EI and then after I used it and you can see the problem has somehow reinstalled itself. I'm not ready to give up if you're not.

    Before using browser

Looking at the filenames we were too slow, but do this to make sure:
See HERE for how to show hidden files.
Then find C:\WINDOWS\System32\dllcache\notepad.exe and use it to replace
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\notepad.exe and C:\WINDOWS\notepad.exe

Check if the NSServive is still disabled.
Then open TaskManager and stop these two processes:
    C:\WINDOWS\ieoq.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\atleb32.exe

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\ngujl.dll/sp.html#28129
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = res://ngujl.dll/index.html#28129
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = res://ngujl.dll/index.html#28129
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\ngujl.dll/sp.html#28129
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = res://ngujl.dll/index.html#28129
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\ngujl.dll/sp.html#28129

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {98992BEF-C386-CF53-DECE-D2A0FB2B61D0} - C:\WINDOWS\atleb32.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [ieoq.exe] C:\WINDOWS\ieoq.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [mfcmj.exe] C:\WINDOWS\mfcmj.exe

    Then delete in safe mode:
    C:\WINDOWS\ieoq.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\atleb32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\atleb32.dat
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ngujl.dll

    Regards,

    Pieter

It appears we have been successful. :D I'm posting the latest log and have been using the browser without problem for 30 minutes or so. Since the problem always appeared on the second use of the browser, and this time has not reappeared with multiple uses, I'm assuming we got it this time. A million thank yous for helping out with this nasty little bugger.
