Hitman Pro Support and Discussion Thread

Hi, just got two new entries show in hitman pro scans:

Tried using the built in virustotal scan feature under: Left click scan entry>Tool>VirusTotal. But that just brings up this:

As you can see that is a different file called sourceinit dat, so not sure whats going on there.

Also I can't find the two files the scan highlights in the temp folder, they are nowhere to be found when I look for them, is that because they have hidden attribute ?.

 

Oops, sorry. Wasn't aware of that policy.

However the two entries are still detected. Was just wondering if there could be a check on whether they are false positives or not.

Okay I have a question here. Say I buy a license of Hitman Pro and this computer dies and it can not be turned on to uninstall. Then I get a new computer and load Hitman Pro onto it. Can I use the same license?

It has happened already with Malwarebytes Pro and they allowed me to use it on this computer as the old one was dead and would not even turn on.

 

Obviously that is not a problem. When you are unable to re-activate your license due to over-usage, just contact support, Erik or me. Simply give a brief explanation and after a short check we're happy to add another activation.
And, as mentioned a few times earlier, we will be updating our licensing technology so you do not need to contact us when you e.g. re-install your computer.

Is Kickstart for W8 yet ? FAQ states W8 not supported.

May I use Kickstart USB created on W8.x 64bit ... be used on a 32bit ransomed machine....be used on any Windows XP / Vista / W7 ?

 

I am suffering from lag on Hitman Pro 3.7.9 Build 240 and I did not suffer this when scanning with any other build and my scan times are normally around 1min 20 seconds but now it can take anything up to 10 mins.

I have removed Hitman pro and reinstalled the latest version and rebooted and the scan times remain high and the last scan I cancelled at over 12 minutes as it just sat at 99% and as I said above all previous versions worked perfectly before this version.

This is a new system and no other changes have been made except for the update of the latest HMP on windows 7 64bit.

Have you tried to change the Disk access mode under advanced in the settings to compatible mode....just to see if the scan time improves to normal?

 

This makes no difference to the scan speeds, just sits at 99% for at least 10 minutes. All other builds work great so something has changed to cause this issue.

You cannot boot a Windows 8 system with Kickstart yet.

When I did a scan with HMP it showed that my host file needed to be repaired. I use Hostman, could this be the problem?

 

Maybe. HitmanPro scans the host file to see common redirects.

If you choose Ignore it should remember your choice.

Note that if you ignore you have to keep an eye on the hosts file yourself.

Well, this is interesting....

 

I have experienced the same issue myself, it seems like the HMPA service is no longer running. (There doesn't seem to be a way to restart the service)
Although I have no idea what causes such an issue.

 

Thanks....I was thinking HMP.A went out for a wee wee...
So, restart from Services doesn't work ? I did a machine restart to sort....kinda' not a warm fuzzy to find blank'd user interface.
Only noticed by absence of encrypting flyout.
