ThreatFire - if it doesn't slow down your machine :)

Comodo D+ and PC Tools FW+ contain a firewall as well ...

I will pass on TF, I have tried that in the past and it bogged down my system and slowed everything down a lot.

COMODO light and won't slow down system too much?

I'm on about 3 weeks with it running Win 7. It for sure slows down the system, especially web browsing and the opening of new pages in tabs. I have it setup using Kees ruleset with addition of some I added which makes it more of a HIPS for me. I'm now wishing that I had done as firzen771, OA minus the firewall. I did that some time back in XP liked it alot but ditched it for RTD which I really like better for XP.

yep, i have absolutely no need for a firewall other than windows, just makes an extra annoyance without providing ME any benefit. and couldnt be happier after i found out that im able to completely uninstall the firewall portion straight from the GUI, i also have its web shield and mail shield disabled since i already have a webguard and only use webmail anyways.

and to Greg S, its a great idea, OA without its firewall works amazing.

Yea, I remember it working really well in XP without the Firewall and was impressed but at the time RTD had more to offer and went with it. At the time I installed TF on Win 7, I totally forgot about OA.

At least for me, Comodo doesn't slowdowns, but in the beginning it will take sometime before you set up all the rules :p (That means lots of pop ups)

Real Time Defender (RTD) is free, light and highly effective.

I have test almost all the programs in the list and I find RTD the best after Malware defender. It has file, registry and network protection.

Select to always trust whatever your opening up in control panel, although in my opinion, it's safer to put it in learning mode and open them up. Learning mode applied rules appear to be more strict than selecting always trust.

Real-time Defender Professional is based on ProSecurity v1.43

    (h)ttp://rapidshare.com/files/138669859/RTDPro_Setup.exe

Here is the prosecurity 1.43 manual:
    (h)ttp://rapidshare.com/files/147586716/Pro_Security_1.43_Manual_Pdf.pdf.html

Real time defender Pro has been discontinued. The download link above is the same as that which was listed in ako's "Probably the Best Free Security List in the World" and the manual came from chrome_sturmen, one of the members here... https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=220955
