Hijacked? I think so.

    Hi there, you helped me out once in the past and I am in your debt. A friend of mine is going through a similar problem and I am trying to help him out. I got rid of what I thought were the problems but he is till getting popups warning him he has spyware... here is the hijackthis log:

    Hi Paulzy

    Pls. save HJT in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\

    Check the following items in HijackThis - close ALL windows\browsers except Hijackthis and click "Fix checked":

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\arpa.exe

    NOTE....even in safe mode you may have to open taskmanager and end task on some of them before you can delete them.

    Make sure you can view hidden and system files: Instructions here

    Then Boot to safe mode: Instructions here

    Delete:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\arpa.exe

    Then reboot and use AdAware as described here:

    Then browse to the C:\documents and settings\\YOUR NAME\local settings\temp folder and delete all files and folders in it.
    Then browse to the C:\Windows\Temp folder and delete all files in it.
    Then in internet explore click tools>internet Options>General. Click on Delete Files make sure you get all offline content as well.

    Then Disable system restore: Instructions here
    Reboot

    Enable System Restore.
