Could some explain to me the proper procedure step by step to use the backup files should something go wrong after running Hijackthis?

I cant seem to find any documentation on this on the internet and Spywareinfo.com is down along with the Tomcoyote forums.

    Thank You

    Hi there Geminstars,

To restore run hijack this and click on config.

At the top of the page you will see a tab named backups.

Click on the line(s) you would like to restore .

    Then click the restore button.

    Hope this helps

    Hi geministars,

The best procedure would be :

Make sure you make a seperate folder where you install HijackThis to, it can be any folder you want. Like :

    c:\hijackthis

Or if you feel you have already a folder where hijackthis could be installed in, just do so

The reason why that is important is that all the backup files are stored in that folder as well. There are a lot of people who just install hijackthis on their desktop, but if they start fixing stuff they see a bunch of new files created on their desktop as well ... those are the backup folders :) So best to have HijackThis installed in a seperate folder.

Once you fixed an entry with HijackThis and you feel it might have been a mistake or you want to restore it, here's how to do that :

Open HijackThis -> Config -> Backups

There you will see a list with all fixed items.

Just select the item you want to restore and click 'Restore'

    That's it :)

    Cheers,
