i think i'm being highjacked. yesterday i tried to do a search with google and it redirected me to a web page that looks almost like google's, but without the urls under the search results. i searched yahoo and the same thing happened. all the search results look like companies you'd see advertised on, um, porno sites maybe. i've been running ad-aware almost constantly and since yesterday it has detected 111 new objects. my brother advised me to go back a day on system restore but this didn't fix the problem. i downloaded and ran highjackthis and i found the following:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchURL = C:\WINDOWS\search.htm
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = C:\WINDOWS\search.htm
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = C:\WINDOWS\search.htm
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = C:\WINDOWS\search.htm
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = C:\WINDOWS\search.htm
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = C:\WINDOWS\search.htm
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = C:\WINDOWS\search.htm
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://e-plus.cc/search.php?aff_id=46&keyword=%s
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = C:\WINDOWS\search.htm

Restart PC after doing so and remove :

    C:\WINDOWS\search.htm <- this file

Keep us posted whether that was enough, if not we'll have to use some tools

    Thnx

    Cheers,
