High End Sound To MP3 Recorder

    For my course my university has said i can have any sound recording software i feel appropriate (i assume its within reason but not sure).

    I was wondering what is the aboslute best professional app on the market today. I.e the Adobe Photoshop of sound recordings.

    I will be using a microphone attached to my computer to record everything at very high professional grade qualty to MP3.

    Whcih app would you suggest.
