    Hi,

I'm working on a vista 32 bit Gateway GT5622 computer, which has a bad keyboard driver. Uninstall reboot fails.

Gateway support web site is down, thought i could get the original drivers there.

downloaded a vista 32 bit keyboard driver from CNET, when scanned via Virus Total it had 3 bugs in it, i deleted it.

Is there an alternative place to get a free keyboard driver?

    Thanks
    Rico

    Well,

I found the "GUID" in the registry for "keyboard" deleted the "Upper Filters", went to DEV. MGR., deleted the driver, rebooted.

Keyboard still not working + No error's in dev mgr., or device is working properly

    Help

The only thing I could find at Gateway, anywhere close to being involved with keyboard, was "CHIPSET", this installed correctly, reboot still no keyboard usage.

Tried two keyboards, using different USB plugs front & back - No luck
    Keyboard works on boot F8
    Keyboard fails safe mode
Zero errors dev mgr, choosing show hidden

    How can I run: SFC /scannow without a keyboardo_O?

Don't know how to write a batch file, to run sfc /scannow

    Does the mouse work?

Does a flash drive/memory stick work in the same port as the keyboard?

Have you tried a cold boot with keyboard plugged in (not a reboot)

Tried PS-2 keyboard reboot, this keyboard shows up yellow triangle in dev mgr.

I then re-looked at the GUID for keyboard, upper & lower filters not present, but the key now as many daughter or sub keys Like:

    0000
    0001
    0002
    .
    .
    .
    0020

each sub key has info regarding "keyboard" perhaps, each attempt I make to make it work, adds a sub key.

Above sub key's & lower filters were found at:

    HKLM\System\Current Control Set\Control\Class\4D36E96B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318

Also tried the Gateway Recovery, for drivers: The only one grayed out, can't select is for mouse & keyboard

    Hola Ron,

3rd & long, M$ Fix It: In the end zone, & drops the ball.

I've been trying to slipstream; Vista sp0 to vista SP2, ugh! I've been to Vista 64, & everywhere, last Vista integrator, is non-available, or malware infested, or download 6 scanners declared bugs.

4th down & punt - I'll try wireless keyboard, seems like (hail marry), as PS-2 (old school) failed.

OT (over time) Format, win 7 any cheap updates? vista to 7

    Hi Guys,

Ron - Tried 3 keyboards all work, tried in all working USB plugs

Pandlouk - That is a PS-2 driver, I thought that was the very old, roundish plug, not USB. Also need to look again did not see GT-5622 supported

Stapp - Integrated peripherals > USB Keyboard Legacy support [Enabled], when checked.

I would try a sfc /scannow and if no luck, you may need to do a repair install of Windows.

My concern is you deleted the drivers but Windows was not able to reinstall them upon reboot. Windows should not have had any problems installing generic keyboard drivers to get you going.

    Hi Bill,

tried this from a machine with working keyboard

Notepad > sfc /scannow > save as "all files" sfc.bat > copy to flash drive >ran it on sick machine:

Strange or un anticipated results. cmd prompt opened, with many lines scrolling rapidly shich said:

    c:\...\sfc /scannow

should the batch file have included & elevated command prompt, if so how would i elevate in the sfc batch file?

    Hi Bill,

Since the machine I wish to run "sfc /scannow" has no method, of typing letters. I'm trying to make a batch file, which contains: sfc /scannow
