    I am trying to install AVG antivirus paid and i find an error about directory rights or something like this. Visited their help fact and contacted the support but nothing till now. They have directed to download and install somethisng about resetting rights which i did but still doesn't help. Can you please help me? I don't want my licence unburnt .

    ps; i managed to install AVG 7.5 but not 8.5
    my laptop is clean and the security center says that i have no antivirus installed.
    windows xp sp 2 profesional edition

    Try to change the destination folder .. ? Select custom installation, then change the default destination folder from :-
    C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8
    to
    C:\AVG8 or anything else ..
    ...

    Another thing you might try is to boot the computer in safe mode and remove the anti-virus from there...

    WARNING... AVG leaves things behind... so run a cleaner to finish removing it all once you have de-installed the main piece before trying to install another anti-virus package...

    I recommend you run the AVG Removal Tool to get rid of vestiges, make sure you are in an admin account, then install from scratch.

    Or you could just use Avast. ;)

    Any reason you've not gone to SP3?

    Are you trying to install with full administrator rights ?
