    I bought another anti-malware scanner.

I don't wish to name it, but while it is very good, it works for a few months, and then starts having database load errors. Seriously annoyed. I do NOT have any malware on my machine. They seem to be in denial.

I have downloaded Prevx & installed it.

Is there any discount or promotion running so I can try and save some money please?

Also I am a bit worried - I downloaded a zip file contains malware (attached to spam I got) so I could upload it to jotti: ~Scan results removed per Policy.~
6 out of 19 scanners reported malware.

On virustotal prevx also picked it up.

While I had the zip saved to my desktop, I right clicked the zip file and selected scan with prevx, and it did not find any threat. Why is that? I have v 3.0.5.187

    Thanks

I think you will have to PM one of the PrevX staff about this, but publicly I have not seen any deals around on PrevX recently.

There is no discount as far as I know but it is cheaper overall if you get 2 or 3 year license than a 1 year! And Prevx does not scan inside the archive as the file inside can't do any damage, you would have unzip it!

I think that is silly. It should scan archives. How do I make this a suggestion?

I should add prevx did NOT pick it up yesterday (when it was first seen in the wild) but has picked it up today.

As far as I am aware this is the only PrevX forums. You could just make a new topic with it titled something like "PrevX suggestion" and I feel that the PrevX staff will read it. Just so you know not many security products scan inside zip files.

    Re: Suggestion

Executables and other system files contained within an archive are dormant until they are run. Prevx's strength is in scanning files as they are executed so from their perspective, scanning archives isn't helpful.

    Re: Help!

This is the Official Prevx Forum :) Prevx does not scan archives because in an archived state, files are not malicious. If they were to be extracted and executed or loaded in some way, they would be blocked, but we've taken the stance that archive extraction does not add enough incremental value to implement.

I'm not sure if we have any current deals running but we do offer up to a 30% discount when purchasing if you purchase for multiple years.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I've merged this thread into the original "Help!" thread to save discussing everything twice :)
