Help sometime is not my dvd ASUS DRW-24B5ST sata avaible ?

    Hi

    i have a sata ASUS DRW-24B5S and sometime is not avaible after a boot

    it's sometime that happen

    in the event i got this error when my dvd burner is not avaible

    the only security software i have installed is eset smart security 5 64bit
    i run windows 7 64 ultimate

    when i got this error i push the drive button to open it but the drive doesn't respond

    when i have not this error it's perfect

    the drivers are

    I would first ensure the power and data cables are securely connected to the drive, and other end of the data cable securely fastened to the motherboard. Consider using a different power connection and data cable to be sure.

    If they are securely fastened, and your computer works fine otherwise, then it sounds like the drive is failing.

    Normal? Yes. Right? No. I note this W7 system, it says I have a SAMSUNG SCSI Disk Device, but it too is SATA.

    They seem to have corrected that in W8 as the drives there are reported as SATA.

    it's odd because now i got it's the bios sometime my dvd start up and i can see it in the bios list sometime it's not in the list
    weird

    If it intermittently shows up, then sometimes doesn't, I would suspect a loose cable, or failing drive. You might swap in another drive, if available, and see what happens.

    but there are few brands that make dvd burners

    lg and asus
    i'm wrong?
    what about lg? are good?
    i had always asus , nec and pioner in the past

    Sure, you can replace a CD drive with a DVD Drive or DVD Burner, or a BluRay drive. I've used LG with no problems.
