Here is a post of my log. I ran Ad-aware, then HyjackThis. The problem I'm having is when running internet explorer it opens up like 30-50 times with internet and pop-ups all over the place. What shall I do?

    Hello Unique Monique,

You are running MyWebSearch (or MyBar). This is not technically malware, but it is thought to be bad by many experts and it will bring malware with it. There are safer alternatives available such as the Google toolbar. I recommend that you remove it. Go to Add/Remove programs and remove from there, you need to be online when uninstalling.

Run Hijackthis again with all browsers closed and check these items and then on Fix:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wcmdmgr] C:\WINDOWS\wt\updater\wcmdmgrl.exe -launch
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [websx] C:\Program Files\websx\int145598.exe -auto
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [irml] C:\WINDOWS\irml.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ydcfaf] C:\WINDOWS\ydcfaf.exe

    O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://imgfarm.com/images/nocache/f...etup1.0.0.8.cab
    O16 - DPF: {A45F39DC-3608-4237-8F0E-139F1BC49464} - http://members.aol.com/gunitsolijas/121373.exe

Reboot the computer into safe mode

Make sure you can view all hidden files and folders

    Find and delete these files/folders:
    C:\WINDOWS\wt
    C:\Program Files\websx
    C:\WINDOWS\irml.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\ydcfaf.exe

Reboot and post a new log here.

    Hello,

Right click on those icons and then click on properties and tell me about what they are.

For Desktop it says type of file is configuation settings and it opens with notepad. For thumbs it says database file and opens with unknown application. When I go to delete both of these it says system file, if you delete it some programs may not run.

    Hi Unique Monique,

Rightclick the Desktop(.inf or .ini) file and choose Open with...
In the list of programs choose notepad.

Copy the content into your next post.

    Peter,

When I go to command prompt I can't just get c:
    I get c:/Documents and Setting/Ramona>

    I can't get the /Documents and.....to go away.

I tried typing what you said at last message, but nothing happened. What next?

The command cd .. (that is cd [space] [dot][dot])
will bring the level one folder down.
So you will need to do that twice to get to C:>

Can you rightclick the file and under properties see if it helps to put a checkmark in the "hidden" box?

Can you check under EXPLORER > TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS > Hide Protected Operating System Files (Recommened)
That should be checked. Please confirm

    Peter,

It wasn't checked, so I checked it and the Desktop and Thumbs icon disappeared! You did it! Thank you so much! I don't know what I would do without this forum.
