Help! Infected with the SecThought.E Virus!

    Help AGAIN! Infected with the SecThought.E Virus!

    I've been getting a popup from my computer saying that I have the "SecThought.E" virus. I've tried deleting it by running AVG and moving it to the virus vault, but it only seems temporary. About half an hour ago it popped up again, except when I tried to move it to the vault it said I couldn't do it! :doubt: Can anyone help me out? I'm completely new to this!

    Thank you Pieter for helping out a newbie. :)

    Like I've said earlier, I have the Trojan SecThought.E virus, which I've tired removing by using AVG 6.0. This only seems to be a temporary remedy, though!

    Before you start, please unrar hijackthis to a separate folder. The program will make backups in the folder in the folder it's in.
    These easily get lost in a Temp folder.

    Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    there is nothing showing in the log

    How do you know it's there

    does AVG pop up a warning at boot time or something

    I'm pretty sure it's in the system restore that is the usual problem with XP

    Turn off system restore by following instructions here

    That will purge the restore folder and clear any malware that has been put in there. Then reboot & then re-enable sytem restore & create a new restore point.
