HI, i stumbled across this site and im hoping its a life-saver. I looked in other threads hoping to find the answers to all my problems but i think there are still issues with my computer that need to be addressed. I downloaded the necessary programs but i dont know what is a problem and what is not from the log entries. Also when i try to use spybot and download the updates it says it cannot due to a BAD CHECKSUM!!! (?)

HELP!!!! below is the log from hijackthis:

    It's a pretty clean log.

Check, and have Hijack This fix the following items, and you should be good to go:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4CDC3E0F-ED6F-72BE-8653-66550BD0283E} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\aya.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Aceu] C:\Documents and Settings\jerome\Application Data\etrr.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Ellqss] C:\WINDOWS\System32\lugt.exe

As for those problems downloading updates, have you tried downloading from another mIrror site?

You're welcome; however, it's still a good idea to run regular scans with an updated SB or Ad-Aware.

Even I regularly come across well hidden remnants of stuff I test installed...

hey....after feeling like i learned a lil more about whats going on i started clearing some files and in my temporary internet files there are some files that will not allow themselves to be deleted...one has an internet explorer icon as if it was a webpage starting with "type%3dclick" how do i go about getting rid of this?

Usually, all you need to do is go to Control Panel > Internet > Temp. Internet Files section > press 'delete files'.

If you want to do some MAJOR cleaning, is log in as Administrator, and delete the entire Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files folder in your profile.
    Now restart your computer.

This will force Windows to create a new TIF folder, containing a brand new index.dat file.

my acct is assigned as 1 of the computer administrators but when i go to delete the file from the "C:\Documents and Settings\jerome\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\3H7WLVV0" it tells me it cannot find the specified file even though a explorer icon starting with type%3dclick is located there. Also another file in "C:\Documents and Settings\jerome\Local Settings\Temp" named perflib_perfdata_1d0 will not delete stating it is in use by another program or person when nobody else is logged on. please help....you have been of much help. thanks in advance...on my list ur somewhere right up under god ;)
