I have the newest version and it keeps slowing down my PC to a deathly crawl. I went to uninstall it to only have it freeze within seconds of the uninstalling progress starting. I tried from add/remove, ccleaner's uninstaller and the programs menu. I'm out of options and sick of AOL's products.

Revo Uninstaller, in Advance mode. Don't reboot when the AOL uninstaller asks you, just continue with Revo until finished, then reboot.

I downloaded AIM from the site. So i don't think I got an infected one. Plus I didn't open any attachments.

And your current status? Did you check whether it was running prior to uninstalling?

Partial answering doesn't help. For your own benefit, stick to ALL question's asked. Now, still installed?

Next time use the portableapps pidgin that uses AIM. That way it doesn't install itself.

I had and still have Pidgin. I'm using Meebo until a new version of Pidgin comes out that does not kick me off as much.

Good! You made it sound like there was a previous version of AIM installed. Not the case, then we'll leave it.
There's a slightly different version of Pidgin on SourceForge if you're interested - Fun Pidgin.

    Should've mentioned - investigate if you're interested.
