The issue I have is After deleting some files, my HDD shows more space occupied than the folder in question holds e.g I had 36.8GB in the said folder on my internal D:/drive, and deleted quite alot of files, the actual folder shows correctly as 31.4GB, but used capacity on the HDD itself shows 36.8GB, how do I reclaim this extra space:doubt:

    Try a reboot.

Just checking - the deleted files aren't in your recycle bin, are they?

It may be a disk error, try running chkdsk on D:

Go Start -> Run, type cmd then press enter
At the command window type: chkdsk d:/f then press enter to run chkdsk.

If D: drive is in use, it will schedule the scan to run when you reboot your computer.
