Hash Folding (how)?

    Hi,

    I need to fold a 256 bit SHA hash on 128 bits for use in a hashtabele, and thus should be done cryptographically safe.

    Are there some proper ways to do this?

    The simple approach would be
    1. to drop the 2nd half of teh hash or
    2. XOR the 1st half with the 2nd half
    bit its this safe?
