I am not always correct with my computer terminology. Something called happy is trying to connect to the internet when I turn on my computer. It has taken over my internet connections. I cannot delete it from the connections nor can I add a new connection. The address bar is greyed out. I had someone work with it and they did succeed in getting rid of an in-motion porn picture featuring beastiality. He also deleted internet explorer hoping that whatever has infected my computer would then be eliminated. WRONG!!!! He decided to install opera thinking that most trojans, hijackers, viruses infect mainly internet explorer. Well, minus the lovely picture, it still tries to connect to "happy". I have tried searching your site to find anything on this and finally decided to post. Any help is greatly appreciated since I have children in the home and who occasionally need access to the internet for school.

    Hello cajunspice, welcome to forums

Sounds like you are definitely infected with a hijacker of some sort.

Happy.exe [if that is what you have] is a worm: read here

    http://www.rootsweb.com/~fianna/faq/viru2.html

Now, to get help, you first need to go to here:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=15913

Read and follow instructions. Then post your HJT log in appropriate section and wait for help.

ooops, seems like a drastic measure, bit like killing the horse to cure a swollen fetlock.

But if you follow advice in link above I know the guys here can help.

    Cheers, TAS

    Happy hijacker!!!!!!

I apologize if I am not posting in the right places. Anyway, I have ran adaware, spybot, spywareblaster, Mcafee and Norton's. All come up clean. In my urgency to seek help I guess I wasn't clear about my problem. When I turn on my computer and go to start then connect to, the only connection available is "happy". My connection has been deleted. I am not able to delete the "happy" connection or add a new connection. And even if I go ahead and click on "happy" so I can connect to the internet NOTHING happens. Therefore I cannot download hijackthis because I cannot connect to the internet period. I have borrowed a friends computer to find help. Thanks though for responding so quickly. If you have any more solutions my radar is on! ;)

    HI cajunspice....

Both Pilli and I gave a link for help, but seeing as you have already run the described programs in there, you do need now to post a HJT log of your system...

You can first go here to download HJT:

    http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/~merijn/downloads.html

It's not a big file, but seeing as you cannot even connect to net to get it, dl on your friends PC, copy to floppy [hey, I could be a rap singer  ] and then install on your system. [NOT on desktop or temp folder, create a folder say, in C:/hijackthis for eg. and put it in there] It does not have to be 'installed', standalone .exe proggy.

Start, Scan, then Save Log... it will open in notepad then... copy back to floppy, and post it here: [In a NEW thread]

Hi cajunspice, If you are on a friends pc download the software HiJackThis etc. to a floppy and then run on your PC whilst not connected to the internet. Save the results to a file and post in the HJT forum. BTW this advice suggested by coutesy of Snapdragin :)

Update. I did a restore to a time I thought was before "happy". My connect to settings were back. So I connected to the internet and downloaded hijackthis and "happy" was gone! :D Then I decided to reboot. :'( 'cuz happy returned and all my connect to settings wiped clean. As soon as I have more time I will return to my computer and try restoring again run hjt and post it. I am not able to boot to safe mode. I was going to try running some of the spyware programs in safe mode but can't. Thanks for your help. (I can't believe I didn't think to copy anything to disk)
