    Hello Linux Geeks :)

I am new to linux. I have installed few flavors of linux. Here is my problem...
I installed Windows XP recently and in a day my XP is infected with virus and i cant even logoff or restart.
So i have decided finally i wont have any windows and will go for Two linux version.
    These are my prerequisit...
    1. My nephew plays few adoble flash games standalone flashplayer games which should work in Linux.
    2. I play few videos in of anime and few movies which i want to play in Linux.

So as is it better to go to Mint Linux along with PC Linux or PC Linux along with SL?
Which two linux would you ask me to install

    Any suggestion is appreciated :)

    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Pein

    hello Pein

as your hardware is 2gb ram and amd

i go for 32bit of distro

if i where you linux mint or ubuntu LTS would be default choice of my os

LMDE rolling supported a long time or ubuntu 10.04.2 supported till 2013-04

linux mint 10 based on ubuntu 10.10 supported till 2012-04

linux mint 11 based on ubuntu 11.04 supported till 2012-10

    http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_(operating_system)

second one depends on you and your hardware SL good and long term suported but not out of box and easy where as pclinuxos out of box base on rolling distro so support for long term

    Hello Mack

Thanks :) some how i was able to recover all my data. I found out which trojan actually spoiled my Windows it was trojan.win32.patched.ip.
I boot via Linux CD and i formated just the drive of Windows and checked with windows xp and i installed windows XP and never connected to net and copied all data to external hard drive. Now i can reformat entire drive :) and will have two flavors of linux

    Thanks Again
    Regards

Congratulations! If you like, you can just install your favorite Linux distro, and then run the other (and WinXP) with VirtualBox. With guest additions installed, both Linux and WinXP run almost at native speed.

Pein don't forget to try KDE distros like Open Suse KDE and Kubuntu. Don't worry about multimedia , VLC is there . Good luck with your A rank mission  .

I just loaded two Linux distros and I chose Mepis 11, kde, 32bit and Mint 11, Gnome, 32bit. I loaded w32codecs in Mepis and Mint comes with most of the codecs already loaded so you should be good to go.

Well here's a question. Is Linux better the Windows ? If so why? I have heard about Ubunto but don't know much about it. I was just reading about openSUSE but don't know which would be better to try. I have some learning to do.
