    Hi,

I dont know whether its been posted here but i found great deals on WSA product.

Its 75% off on WSA AV
    http://www.webroot.com/En_US/sites/land-holiday-2012.html

Also, i have a simple query. If I buy this product now and use the license after 6 months then would it work ( I am pretty sure that answer is yes but its best to confirm shelf life of the license) :)

    Another quick question:
I currently have few days say 100 left in my WSA. so if I add my key now, will i get 365 days or 100+365 days.
Since I would rather use my key after 100 days if WSA uses approach 1.

Activating a license replaces your current license and starts decrementing days immediately. You should wait 100 days and then install with your new keycode to give you 465 days of use.

    Hi,

Just picked up a 2012 WSA license from e-bay for $2.97 (Canadian) plus $3 shipping.

There still plenty left at that price.

Hopefully, the code works for 2013 versions of the product.

Be careful. That is not an authorized seller and may be stolen or something. Webroot can't help with those if they are disabled for fraud. :\ Then all you can do is try to get your money back from the seller. Worse, the seller may not know they are trafficking in stolen goods.

yep i got some of them and most of them on ebay are best buy versions and may be disabled in the future. best buy should never have sold them off to anyone.

I was planning to but from ebay. How do you know they are best buy. Moreover, why would they be disabled ?

I had 85 days left and I activated my new license and now it reads 365 days instead of 450 days.

yep thats how it works. if you have time left and enter a new lic key it removes the time from the old key and starts over the new one.

hard to say how you will know for sure because not everyone shows an actual picture of the exact item they are shipping. but any of the ones that show a orange starburst picture on the front that says "activated at purchase install immediately" are from best buy. this meant that when you bought it in the store at best buy they activate the key in their system and the time starts ticking if you use it or not almost all av software sold through best buy is this way including kaspersky and others. but some sellers use generic pictures and dont show the actual product so you cant see the orange label and when i asked some of them who had them REALLY cheap and did not show the orange "activation" picture on the front the response was that yes it has it on there even though their ebay picture didnt show it. almost all of them that are just crazy cheap right now from ebay are best buy versions.

the key you get with them will work and count down days but remain non activated in the gui. i was told and joe can correct me if this is not correct that they could in the future deactivate these keys because they were not to be sold outside of best buy at all. in reality imo best buy is at fault here because these were never to be sold outside of best buy but they in fact were and in large quantities.

you have to be very careful because mine that i bought came from amazon and i still got the best buy versions and that was not shown in the picture. imo if it was me i would just buy the 9.99 deal from webroot directly if all you need is the av as you told me. the key will not start ticking down till you use it so you can hold onto it till its time to actually use it.

and i dont care what anyone says but i would be a bit skeptical of some of the newer styled boxes also like this one anyone charging 3.00$ with free shipping i would be a bit skeptical about: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Webroot-Sec...193&pid=100013&prg=1004&rk=1&sd=140883137903&

i would spend the 10$ and get a real deal version from webroot for that price imo.

i was not sure by your response if you were stating thats how it works or not sure if thats how it was supposed to work. i was stating you were correct that what you saw is in fact how it works.

Do you know that when you don't buy from an authorized retailer like the cheap one's at ebay that Webroot doesn't see a dime.... It's best to buy from there Website when they have sale like they have now http://www.webroot.com/En_US/sites/land-holiday-2012.html and then you know where the money goes.

I don't understand. Even if its not an authorized seller but the box version if from webroot. Hence, the money should go to webroot only.

Best Buy does "Point of Sale Activation", which means the keycode isn't really active or paid to Webroot until somebody buys it and BB activates it at the register.

Other retail boxes of old product were probably "Destroy on Site" for the retailers, which means that Webroot says "Certify that you destroyed the product keys and boxes for these irrecoverably and we will refund you for unsold product." That allows distributors and retailers to buy enough to last and not take a hit when next year's stuff comes out. So 2012 and 2011 stuff that was certified as Destroyed actually costs Webroot for the printed boxes and such but they have refunded the full cost to the distributor or retailer. This is common in a lot of distribution situations, including books (cover ripped off). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stripped_book for an example.

So if it's the orange Best Buy starburst or a "Certified Destroyed" copy, Webroot -lost- money on it and saw not a lick of income for it. :(

Oh , i did not knew that. I wish i had not bought one from ebay. Anyways, I will buy one for my other laptop from the official site if everything goes ok with my PC and webroot over time.
