    Today I've noticed strange google redirects. I've typed "imdb" and the first link was:

    -http://www.google.com/url?url=http://www.imdb.com/&rct=j&sa=U&ei=STq0TshHqKTgBM-R2NkD&ved=0CCYQFjAA&q=imdb&usg=AFQjCNGEz6f0fMyG7Hb8BxblJ5Z9ye0UtQ

    Then I've enabled javascript and the link was normal:
    -http://www.imdb.com/

    Redirects are annoying. Anyone knows what's going on?

    Yes they are annoying. I haven't run across this myself, though. My current beef with Google involves that damned "preview" of search links that I can't find out how to kill.

    @Pliskin, I use Opera and javascript disabled for google, I got the --http://www.imdb.com/ and not the long version you got, just the opposite. Strange.

    @dw426, I can't stand that preview feature. That constant motion annoys. The only way I found to stop it was to disable javascript at google.

    stop Google preview

    add these two custom entries in my filters using Ad Muncher

    Block retrieval of URL:
    /webpagethumbnail?c=

    Add CSS to all pages:
    button.vspib, #vspb {display:none !important;}

    and one new one

    #ires .vspib, #nyc #nycp {display:none;}

    That's been driving me nuts too, started yesterday for me, using FF (7.0.1) and NoScript.

    don't you guys too think that google should leave default google as is, like back in the day it was nothing but a plain white simple interfaced search engine which was why it had become so popular; and making all those things like preview, instant search, etc. available to those who use google while signed in as in igoogle?

    Thank you all. For now I have solved this problem by masking Opera as IE.
    Maybe this user script can help, it hides Preview and restores "Cached" link:

    Interesting. Question to you - in addition to telling google you're IE, is your javascript enabled or disabled for google?

    Yes, javascript is disabled for google. Btw, if you identify (or mask) as IE you will get "Cached" link back, also now even if you enable javascript you won't get that annoying preview feature.
