I had a fit the other day when Google started searching as I typed as if by magic.

THEN I discovered they had introduced Google Instant. Rather makes the Search button redundant.

I like it and find it very quick - fascinating.

    What do you think ?

    Hello Poosey - HA-HA,

Of course it is tracking your every move. Look on the bright side, all those Hippies at Google will have countless duo-trigintillions of nice web details to look at. I do hope they like all the porno feedback.

I personally do not like all the changes made to Google.

I can't stand that Instant mess. For one thing, it's absolutely no different than the Google search bar in Firefox and Chrome. The search bar changes as you type, just like Instant. Second, I keep finding Instant getting stalled and/or slow, so there goes "instant". Google, for just maybe once needs to leave well enough alone.

I use the Google search engine in Firefox with suggestions turned off. I'm used to doing it the old fashioned way and plan on sticking with it as long as there's an option. I'm sure instant has advantages for people in a hurry but I hate it when stuff starts popping up before I even finish typing. :thumbd:

    Hey Alli,

Stick with that typing magic, you never know, you just may see something interesting after the first few letters that you would never find otherwise. :D

Stay on topic means stay on topic. The topic here is about google instant, not how we feel about current events, and or moderation of off topic posts.

I'm a bit ambivalent about it. Sometimes I think it has saved me a lot of time, others it drives me a bit crackers. It reminds me of when I learned to use the T9 predictive text on my phone. I still find it difficult on Nokias, but my Sony is easier to use. It can save a lot of time, sometimes it gets on my nerves. I'll just have to practice a bit with Google. Unless I switch back to Ask Jeeves!

It's all part of the idea that in order for us to give up more and more of our privacy, they need to give us usability and magic, and so far their plan is working great....

It freaked me out as well. I had thought Malware slipped into my machine.

Like I said in the opener, I think this "Search as you type" is brilliant. Google are so versatile and radical in their operational attitude. Always trying to get ahead and try something new.

I don`t give a toss whether they monitor my browsing, good luck to them if that is what lights their candle, be my guest. I hope they enjoy it as much as I do. So long as they provide an excellent service to me - Have a nice day Google.

I find Google are light years ahead of any other Search engine on Planet Earth.
